Pictured above: PHAR Partnerships’ Project Director, Chanyanit Klongsilpachai, and Head of Partnerships, Andrew Fraser, after signing the consultancy contract with Founder & CEO of Anywheel, Htay Aung.

PHAR Partnerships is thrilled to announce its appointment by Anywheel Singapore as its exclusive sponsorship agency.

Anywheel, the bike-sharing scheme founded in Singapore on World Car-Free Day in 2017, aims to complement the current transport system in the country by encouraging users to reduce the dependence on carbon-emitting vehicles as their preferred mode of transportation. It is currently the largest operator in Singapore, owning 30,000 out of the 36,000 bikes available for sharing within the nation.

Previously, Anywheel Singapore signed a consultancy agreement with PHAR, that leveraged on PHAR’s expertise in designing brand partnership packages. With this arrangement, PHAR is to develop a go-to-market strategy and secure suitable partners for the Anywheel bike-sharing scheme.

The brand partners will serve as a strategic alliance with Anywheel Singapore that will see region-wide brand awareness and the association to pro-environmental causes, in addition to providing a greener and healthier transport alternative for citizens, expatriates and visitors alike. The ideal sponsor would be one that cares for the future generations of Singapore by reducing its carbon footprint, thereby contributing, and committing to The Singapore Green Plan 2030, which is a whole-of-nation movement to advance Singapore’s national agenda on sustainable development.

To build greater awareness of environmental sustainability and to encourage the use of greener transport modes among commuters, the Land Transport Authority’s regulatory requirements have helped to support the sustainable growth of the bicycle-sharing landscape, and Anywheel is optimistic to see the resurgence of bike-sharing here despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Htay Aung, CEO and Founder of Anywheel, commented “It’s an exciting new chapter that Anywheel will be embarking on, with the assistance of PHAR, Anywheel aims to partner with like minded global brands to spread awareness on sustainable transportation while delivering meaningful messages to the targeted audience.

Andrew Fraser, Head of Global Partnerships for PHAR Partnerships, commented, “We are thrilled to have been appointed by Anywheel Singapore – as new integrated mobility solutions become ever more important within cities across the world, Anywheel offers brands the best possible chance to showcase their story to an engaged and captive audience, whilst demonstrating their commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable future.”

PHAR brokers deal for National Grid to sponsor Beryl’s flagship scheme in Norwich

The UK’s largest electricity transmission and distribution business, National Grid, has partnered with micromobility operator Beryl as sponsor of its flagship fleet in the city of Norwich, England.

The multi-year partnership, has been brokered by PHAR as Beryl’s exclusive sponsorship partner.

The partnership will allow Beryl to run more projects with businesses, charities and community groups to make sustainable travel more accessible. By boosting this work, the partnership will help further reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, while improving mental and physical health and air quality in Norwich.

Rhian Kelly, Chief Sustainability Officer at National Grid, said: “At National Grid, we’re committed to playing our part in delivering a clean energy transition and tackling high emitting sectors such as transport. Partnering with the communities we serve on projects that will cut carbon emissions strongly aligns with our sustainability values and ambitions, and we’re pleased to collaborate with Beryl on this scheme in Norwich.”

Launched first as a bike share scheme in March 2020, e-bikes were then added to the Norwich scheme in July 2020, followed by e-scooters in January 2021.

The scheme has generated more than 761,000 journeys saving nearly 30 tonnes of CO2, according to industry calculations.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to partner with a globally recognised organisation that shares our outlook and values around the decarbonisation of transport,” said Beryl’s CEO and Co-Founder, Phil Ellis.

Councillor Lana Hempsall, Sustainable Transport Champion at Norfolk County Council, commented: “The green bikes and e-scooters are now well known across Norwich and many of our locals and visitors have become ‘Beryl converts’ using them to make those shorter journeys to work, education and leisure, rather than taking their car.”

“Having National Grid on board is going to create some great opportunities for our scheme and will allow us to do even more to develop the scheme and encourage even more people to leave the car at home which is key in helping us to achieve our ambitious net-zero objectives.”

OVO Bikes Supporting The Trussell Trust this Christmas

OVO Bikes Cardiff and Glasgow have announced a new charity initiative to support The Trussell Trust.

The winter OVO bikes campaign will provide Cardiff and Glasgow with 25 festive-designed bikes to help the trust with their ending UK hunger mission.

For every special winter OVO Bike rental, nextbike by TIER are donating the fare to charity plus adding £1 on top, making each ride into a £2 donation.

James Watts, head of PR, social and sponsorship for OVO Energy, said: “We’re so pleased to continue our support for the Trussell Trust this winter, with a real focus on helping people who face specific hardships.

"Our special edition Winter OVO Bikes will be available across both Glasgow and Cardiff throughout the festive period, with each ride having the added benefit of raising funds for UK foodbanks, as well as helping communities across both cities continue their journey towards zero carbon living."

Emma Revie, chief executive at the Trussell Trust, said: “We are very grateful to OVO Energy and nextbike for their incredible support.

"This winter, more people are likely to need a food bank’s help and food banks across our network face providing more than 7,000 food parcels to people in crisis every day throughout December. But ultimately, no one in the UK should need a food bank – all of us should have enough money for the essentials like food, clothing and heating.

"The support of cyclists in Glasgow using this initiative will help food banks within our network continue to provide the lifeline of emergency support for local people in crisis, while we work in the long term to end the need for food banks, for good.

"Thank you so much.”
